Talking about sentience. Having qualities of human, which
includes feelings, emotions and all others does not mean that they
think for themselves.
For example, those facial expression recognition system which
police and NASA uses, they recognises human expressions and
interpret them into emotions, and acts accordingly.
Next step, if we take it further, and if we are able to have AI
which uses the same logic and basis, together with others which,
probably, we could not forsee yet, it might seem like they are
thinking, but remember, without the engineer, programmer etc etc,
that would never happen. What happens if the engineer tweaks the
system?
I still firmly believes that, other then "natural" beings like us,
and other animals, anything created could not think, for they dont
think for themselves, it is the programmers, creator and much more
people who themselves, experienced, and whatever they want to
program into the computer that does the thinking.
In short, its the creator, who does all the thinking before hand,
no matter how complex the system is.
